Aloha Nui Organics is happy to offer registration for the following qualifying conditions:

  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
  • Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (added effective July 1, 2015 as per Act 241)
  • “The treatment of these conditions”
  • A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:
    • Cachexia or wasting syndrome
    • Severe pain
    • Severe nausea
    • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy
    • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease.

Follow these program rules and the law:

  • One caregiver per patient; one patient per caregiver.
  • One grow site per registered patient.
  • No more than 7 marijuana plants per registered patient (plants should be tagged).
  • No more than 4 ounces of usable marijuana, jointly between a registered patient and caregiver.
  • Do not use medical marijuana in a way that endangers the health or well-being of another person.
  • Do not use medical marijuana for purposes other than medical use as permitted by law.
  • Do not use medical marijuana in any moving vehicle, at any work place, on any school grounds, or in any other public place (including public parks, beaches, recreation centers).
  • Put a tag or other identification maker with the patient ID and expiry date at the base of every medical marijuana plant so they can be more easily identified as legal. (In the proposed DOH Administrative Rules, which DOH anticipates will be heard in public hearing in early 2015, “the person who has been designated to cultivate marijuana shall have a legible identification tag on each marijuana plant being cultivated for the qualifying patient”.

Criteria for certification (all must be met):

  • Must have a qualifying debilitating medical condition (listed above)
  • Must have medical records available to certify debilitating medical condition
  • Must have a photocopy of your state of Hawaii ID card, driver’s license or passport
  • Must pay full cost ($170) of certification appointment and completion of State of Hawaii – Dept of Health Medical Marijuana Program online application.
